Huge Savings on DL Envelopes at LA Office UK!

As the most common envelope size used in business, we feel a strong urge to ‘plug’ our selection of DL envelopes as we don’t want to lose out to our competitors, particularly if they’re prices aren’t as low as ours, or their customer service is poor. Honesty is the best policy always, that why here at LA Office we like to be straight with our customers. Yes, this blog is aimed at bringing our beloved market and valued customers our way when it comes to purchasing envelopes, which I think is fair enough considering the vast selection of high quality envelopes we actually have!

The DL envelope is designed to accommodate an A4 sheet of paper folded over twice to create three roughly equal sections. Measuring 22cm in width and 11cm in height, the DL envelope is normally used for sending single page letters and documents. As the enclosed document will need to be folded twice, it will be marked with creases which can sometimes look unprofessional if there are more than two pages. For this reason we recommend using DL envelopes only for single page documents when you’re trying to put across a professional image. The DL envelope is not part of the ISO C series, which is the widely used standard size for envelopes. It is presumed that DL once stood for DIN Lang (Deutsche Industrie Norm, Long), however is now the abbreviation for “Dimension Lengthwise” by ISO 269. (See C Series Envelope Formats)

This envelope size is essential when you’re looking to send correspondents to customers; maybe chase payments, advise them on policy changes and so on. Due to its wide open flap and lightweight properties, it’s clear to see why this is the most cost effective and user friendly envelope in which to enclose a letter. Our favourite is the featured 5 Star 90gsm Office DL Envelopes which is perfect for all office mail. Featuring:

Duplicate Books Without The Mess!

A duplicate book is a very useful tool when you’re self employed. They come in many forms such as duplicate receipt books, duplicate memo books, duplicate invoice books and so on. So when you need to write out an invoice in a hurry and you don’t have letter headed paper and an accounts department, your duplicate invoice book is just what you need. A duplicate receipt book can be very useful if you’re a landlord and need to write out receipts for your tenants, or maybe you’re a taxi driver and some of your customers need to retain receipts for claiming their travel costs back, a duplicate receipt book is just what you need. A duplicate memo book is a great way of creating duplicates of written notes for receipt purposes or for any form of note that requires a duplicate copy.

Our Silvine Duplicate Books are made using Carbonless Paper which is an alternative to the very messy carbon paper. Carbonless paper is used in the same way in that it will make a copy of an original, handwritten document without the use of any electronics. The process was invented by chemists Lowell Schleicher and Barry Green, working for the NCR Corporation, as a biodegradable, stain-free alternative to carbon paper. Carbonless copy paper consists of sheets of paper that are coated on the bottom and/or the top with micro-encapsulated dye or ink and/or a reactive clay. The back of the first sheet is coated with micro-encapsulated dye. The top of the middle sheet is coated with a clay that quickly reacts with the dye to form a permanent mark. The back of the middle sheet is also coated with the dye. The lowermost sheet is coated on the top surface with the clay with no coating applied to the back side. When someone writes on the sheets, the pressure from the point of the writing instrument causes the micro-capsules to break and spill their dye. Since the capsules are so small, the print obtained is very accurate.

Silvine are a brand who has been about since 1901, and whose paper products are made by Sinclairs Stationers based in Yorkshire. Over the years the company has undergone many changes, but some things will always remain the same. Like for example, the ethical way in which they do business plus their constant insistence on manufacturing all their stationery in the UK saving on air miles!

The Green Bit

As you sit down to write on your Silvine notebook’s first pristine page, the last thing you want is the thought of swathes of rainforest trees being decimated for this moment of pleasure.
